Story 4 Inspo

As we all know since the beginning of time, the feud between Democrats and Republicans has been raging on. Federalists versus Democratic Republicans in the 18th Century. Whigs versus Democrats in the 19th century. Republicans versus Democrats in the 20th and 21st century. Even with the COVID-19 situation and whether polls should be open or closed. If polls are open, should state governments strictly enforce social distancing guidelines or have remaining primaries, or even if it gets so bad, the general election in November be mail in votes only. Or worse get cancelled all together. Listening to reasons from both parties will hopefully bring clarity to this situation that is looming over our heads. Some questions that need to be asked is if votes are to be counted by mail, how can election supervisors be sure that they have all of the voter’s votes in. Can a mail in vote be reliable when such an important election is coming up soon?

  1. Hi Michelle,
It’s good that you bring this up, and I absolutely agree with you. It can definitely be a problem when the election is getting closer, if we don’t start working on this now and preparing. I really hope people feel comfortable voting by mail, even though it could potentially present a security risk.

  2. Hi Michele, I’m glad you choose this topic because quite frankly it’s something I totally forgot about. I know I voted for the democratic primaries whist the whole covid outbreak was happening but before the stay at home orders were issued. I think with a lot of states allowing public parks, and beaches and other things like that, were are still going to be able to vote how we traditionally do. But, if they do allow alternatives such as mail in votes there is going to be a lot of mishaps and votes that may not get accounted for.
