A Profile on Katie Hahn

For my second story, I chose to interview a former HCC Hawk now a USF Bull Katie Hahn. I interviewed Hahn to get the details on the transition to a 4-year university from a community college. I also wanted to see what other future transfer students can learn from Hahn’s experience. To prepare for the interview I looked at USF’s transfer requirements and the FUSE program requirements and see where they overlapped and where they differed. A challenge that presented itself was that Hahn and I are close friends from high school and we are still close to this day. It was hard to not get off track and go off tangents on topics that didn’t relate to the interview. But we overcame that challenge by setting time limits for the interview. We had set aside 30 minutes before the interview to catch up and talk about things unrelated to the interview.

  1. This interview sounds very interesting and something that I would love to read about. The FUSE program was confusing for me when I first applied, so interviewing your friend was a good idea. I definitely understand your challenge as I would have the same problem with my friend.

  2. I can’t wait until you post your interview story. I am currently finishing up with my AA at HCC to attend a university. The thought of transferring is a little nerve racking for me. Her to do and to not do list will definitely help me with the whole process. Since I am not officially a student there is not much to learn until then. So nice thinking on choosing to pick your friend for an interview.

  3. This is a really cool interview and something that a lot of us could easily connect to. I’m sure a lot of us will be transferring to a four year university after we receive our AA at HCC so seeing someone else experiences can help us better understand what ours will be like.
